F1 22 Announced, Releasing July 1; to Feature VR Support on PC, Updated Gameplay, More

Published

on

F1 22 — the official game for the ongoing 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship — will be released on July 1, Electronic Arts announced on Thursday. The successor to F1 2021 will let players race in the latest season with redesigned cars, updated rules, and gameplay options. Gamers will also be able to test out the new Miami International Autodrome. The PC version of the game also comes with VR compatibility, but there’s no word from EA on whether F1 22 will come with PSVR support.

In an announcement posted to the official website on Thursday, EA revealed that F1 22 will be released July 1 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and on PC via the EA App, Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Gamers who pre-order the F1 22 Champions Edition will be able to access the game three days earlier — on June 28.

As part of the updated gameplay coming to F1 22, gamers will be able to customise formation laps, safety car periods, and pit stops. This year, EA has also added F1 sprint races. Gamers will have access to the new Miami International Autodrome with 19 corners, along with new cars and a revamped handling model, according to EA.

Unlike previous releases — including F1 2021 — the upcoming F1 22 title will offer VR compatibility for immersive gameplay on PC, via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. As previously mentioned, EA is yet to reveal whether the game will come with PSVR support. Meanwhile, gamers will also be able to access My Team and Career Mode with two-player split screen and online multiplayer, as well as a new hub called F1 Life, where they can show off supercars, clothing, and accessories unlocked while playing the game.

The game is available to pre-order at Rs. 2,999 for PC, Rs. 4,499 and Rs. 3,999 for PS5 and PS4 on the PlayStation Store, and Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 3,999 for the Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One, respectively. The F1 22 Champions Edition is priced at Rs. 4,299 for PC, Rs. 5,499 on the Xbox Store, and Rs. 5,299 on the PlayStation Store.

Pre-ordering the game before May 16 will also grant gamers access to Miami-themed content including livery, suit, helmet, gloves, a cap, t-shirt and wall art designed by a local artist. Meanwhile, the F1 22 Champions Edition will grant access to the game three days before the release date along with F1 22 New Era content, a F1 Life Starter Pack, new My Team Icons, and 18,000 PitCoin, according to EA.

On PC and consoles, you can get limited-time access to F1 22 with the EA Play subscription that costs Rs. 315 per month in India. Alternatively, you can get full unlimited access to the game on PC with the EA Play Pro subscription that comes in at Rs. 999 per month in India. EA Play also offers early access.

F1 22 — now using the same truncated year-styling like EA’s other annual games, following Codemasters’ acquisition — is out July 1 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. It can be played in VR with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta Dates Revealed, Starts September 18

Published

on

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta is coming in September. Activision confirmed in a blog post that the beta launch will be divided into two weekends, with PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users getting first access. The first open beta phase begins on September 18, exclusively on the PS4 and PS5, and will conclude on September 20. Meanwhile, other major platforms, PC and Xbox, alongside PlayStation, get their share on September 24, as means to assess cross-play functionality. Each playtest is scheduled to begin at 10:30pm (IST)/ 1:00pm (ET)

An exclusive event titled Call of Duty: Next kicks off the release campaign on September 15, showcasing live gameplay and new features on their official YouTube channel. The news comes following the Call of Duty League Championship, held on August 7, which granted several viewers free beta codes to prepare for launch. As with previous betas, the dates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II beta are separated by platforms and pre-order status.

Similar to most AAA titles, players who pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 get early access. For PS4 and PS5 users, this would run from September 16–17, which will be followed by the previously stated open beta phase, the very next day, from September 18–20.

Pre-orders on PC (Battle.net) and Xbox grant early access from September 22–23. PlayStation users can get in the action as well, since this functions as a cross-play test. The open beta period, which is free to everyone, starts on September 24, giving complete access to CoD’s state-of-the-art multiplayer segment, and ends on September 26. So, if you pre-order the game on either platform, you get to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for five continuous days.

At the Call of Duty League tournament held over the weekend, developer Infinity Ward also teased a new multiplayer map called Grand Prix. As the name suggests, the map is set on a race track, teeming with fast cars, a Ferris wheel, and engulfing flames resulting from fuel leakage. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II map is set at night time and will be playable in the upcoming beta period.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Battle.net. Further details on the same will be revealed on the Call of Duty: Next digital event, set for September 15.

Xbox Series S India Price Hiked Again, Now Rs. 37,999: Report

Published

on

Xbox Series S consoles are reportedly getting a price hike in India — again. As per games analyst Rishi Alwani, the new (higher) price for Microsoft’s new-gen gaming console in India is Rs. 37,990. This marks roughly an 8.5 percent increase in cost, from the original Rs. 34,990 price tag, during the Series S launch in India. The hike is now effective, starting August 6, and seemingly owes credit to the weakening power of the Indian Rupee (INR) against the US Dollar (USD). Gadgets 360 has reached out to Microsoft India for confirmation on the new Series S price. We will update if we hear back.

In June, Microsoft raised the prices for the next-gen Xbox Series S console by nearly 6 percent, taking it from the original Rs. 34,990 tag to Rs. 36,990. This new Rs. 37,990 tag marks a 2.7 percent increase from the recently updated price.

“After careful observation of the market conditions in India, we are updating the suggested retail prices of Xbox consoles in the country,” a Microsoft spokesperson said at the time. The company had also raised the prices for the Xbox Wireless controllers by nearly 4 percent taking it from the original Rs. 5,390 to Rs. 5,590. That is now going up again, to Rs. 5,690. Meanwhile, the Pulse Red and the neon-drenched Electric Volt controllers are also subject to the price hike. Both are currently displayed at Rs. 5,890 (not updated), but will rise to Rs. 6,290, per Alwani. The Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 has gotten expensive as well, going from Rs. 15,990 to Rs. 17,990.

More recently, in July, Microsoft India raised the Series X prices by 6 percent to Rs. 52,990. The flagship Xbox console was originally launched in India at Rs. 49,990.

For now, both Microsoft Store and Amazon India list the Series S at its original price of Rs. 34,990. On Amazon, the console is currently in stock and promises to dispatch in six days. You could also opt for a renewed version of the Series S console, which costs Rs. 27,999. The Series S listing on Flipkart and Reliance Digital still say Rs. 34,990, but the product is out of stock in the latter.

Furthermore, you could also get an Xbox controller with a USB-C cable at Rs. 5,119, thanks to Amazon’s ongoing Great Freedom Festival sale. As is always the case with the Xbox controller, the retail price tends to be lower than MRP.
