Apple’s ‘California Streaming’ event is less than two days away now. The Cupertino giant is ready to announce its next-generation iPhone lineup, the iPhone 13 series, along with a bunch of products at the event. Just ahead of the event, some (more) information about the upcoming Apple products has surfaced.
Bloomberg Details iPhone 13 Lineup Features
Just half a week ago, we learned some of the features of the iPhone 13 series and the Watch Series 7. Max Weinbach, one of the reliable leakers in the space, revealed that iPhone 13 would cost the same as iPhone 12 lineup and some more information about the battery and the camera’s capabilities. Mark Gurman has now revealed more about Apple’s highly-anticipated 2021 iPhone lineup in his Power On newsletter (Via 9to5Mac).
Gurman says these are the things we can “expect” from the lineup:
- iPhone 13 series will feature the same design as the iPhone 12 “but with a narrower notch.”
- Standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will feature two cameras lenses, while iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature three camera lenses
- New camera software features: Video version of Portrait Mode, a new “AI-driven filter system to apply different styles to your photos,” ProRes video recording for the Pro models
- A15 Bionic will be a “bit speedier” than A14 Bionic
- LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) displays for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, this “likely means a higher-refresh-rate” as well
- iPhone 13 series will feature a satellite communication system for “emergency situations.” Read more about what are LEO satellites, and why the iPhone 13 connecting to satellites is a big deal for the world of phones.

Base Variant iPhone 13 to Feature 128GB Storage
In addition to Bloomberg’s report, reliable Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo revealed that Apple would (finally) drop 64GB configuration with the iPhone 13 lineup. Kuo says iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants, whereas the Pro models will be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations. iPhone 13 Pro will be the first iPhone model to feature a 1TB storage variant.
Kuo also says that iPhone 13 will be a victim of worldwide silicon shortage. He says, “the legacy models had been cut by about 5–10% in 3Q21. The iPhone 13 shipment in 4Q21 may have a potential downside risk due to component shortage. However, this downside has a limited impact on iPhone 13 shipments. We believe that iPhone 13 shipments in 2021 can grow by more than 10% YoY.”
AirPods 3 to Be Announced at California Streaming Event
Apple will also announce AirPods 3, in addition to iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7, at the California Streaming event on Tuesday, says Kuo (Via AppleInsider). Kuo claims Apple is ready to launch the product in the market. However, AirPods 3 will be expensive than the launch price of AirPods 2, and Apple will continue to sell the current-generation earbuds at a lower price.
He says there could be two situations with AirPods this fall: either Apple will sell AirPods 3 at a higher price and AirPods 2 will continue to sell at a lower price, or AirPods 2 will see a price drop alongside the AirPods 3 release and AirPods 3 will adopt the $159 price of AirPods 2.
Apple Watch Series 7 Production Delays “Not Significant”
Last week, Bloomberg reported that Apple was facing issues in the production of the Apple Watch Series 7. In a follow-up report, Kuo said that the Watch Series 7 could see “short supply in September.” In yet another ‘investor note,’ Kuo has reported that the “impact on the release schedule and mass shipment schedule is not significant.” If Kuo’s to be believed, we could see Watch 7 debut along with iPhone 13 and AirPods 3 on Tuesday, with wider availability beginning in October.
M1X MacBook Pro to Be Available in “Next Several Weeks”
As a part of his weekly newsletter, Gurman said that Apple’s upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with improved M1X processor will “hit shelves in the next several weeks.” He expects 2021 MacBook Pros to be a big upgrade over the current-generation MacBook Pro. They’ll feature “MagSafe magnetic charging, mini LED screens, and no Touch Bars,” along with a faster chipset.
There will be two events, and I’d expect the latter to be Mac + iPad. iPhone/Watch Tuesday. https://t.co/xfAjhUkigC
— Mark Gurman (@markgurman) September 12, 2021
He says Apple will hold two events this fall — one to announce iPhone 13, AirPods, and Apple Watch, and the second one to announce new MacBooks and iPad. For those unaware, the iPad mini is expected to be getting a big upgrade this year with the removal of the Touch ID Home Button and slimmer bezels.
Apple will be officially unveiling the iPhone 13 series on Tuesday, 14th September 2021. Make sure to follow PocketNow on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and stay up to date with everything Apple announces at the event.
AirPods 3: info, specifications, pricing, release date, FAQ, and more
The long-rumored third generation of AirPods finally received their much-awaited release at the Cupertino-based OEM’s Unleashed Event on October 18th. They launch alongside the brand new MacBook Pro lineup and introduce some massive changes to AirPods, which have remained pretty much the same since their introduction in 2016.
Yes, there was a refresh in 2019, which brought an improved processor enhancing its function as a pair of smart wireless earphones and a wireless charging compatible case. An upgrade we can call iterative. The 2nd generation AirPods will still be available on sale for $129.
With that, let us focus on what is new with this generation and answer some of the questions you may have, specifically those surrounding its availability and compatibility with older devices.
Pricing and Availability
The third-generation AirPods will be available for pre-order from 18th October, with deliveries and availability starting next week. The earbuds will retail for $179 and come bundled with an all-new MagSafe compatible case.
The $249 AirPods Pro have also been updated to ship with the new MagSafe Case.
As has been customary for AirPods, the earbuds are only available in the traditional white. With Apple making more and more of their products available in a plethora of colorways, we would’ve liked to see more variety, but for interested buyers, white it is.
According to Apple, the third generation features an all-new design on the inside and outside. It uses a stem shape similar to AirPods Pro and has shifted to the same embedded force sensors for media control, while the head of the earbuds remains similar to previous generations with a hard plastic casing, without any silicone tips.
The charging case has also seen a minor redesign to fit the new earbuds and features a familiar look. It also comes with MagSafe-capable hardware.
For those who often exercise with earphones, AirPods are IPX4 rated, meaning the sweat you work up, or light rainfall should not pose an issue.
Audio and Microphone
Coming to the audio experience on these new earbuds, Apple spoke about a new low distortion driver which will provide powerful bass and crisp audio at higher frequencies. This is further supported by Adaptive EQ, which will actively customize the audio profile to help you hear a song, how it’s meant to be heard by trying to combat inconsistencies due to fit.
Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking will also make its debut on the normal AirPods with this generation, meaning you will be able to make the most of Dolby Atmos soundtracks.
And focussing on microphones, Apple is once again using its dual beamforming units, which have proven themselves to be the best on the market over the last few years. Bundle this with iOS 15’s Voice Isolation feature, and others should never have an issue hearing you well on a call.
Battery Life and Charging
With the third generation, AirPods Apple provides the best endurance they ever have with the in-ear form factor. These earbuds will now last for six hours of listening on a single charge, with the case packing an additional 24 hours, making for a total of 30.
If you’re someone who takes an awful lot of calls, in that situation, the AirPods will function for 4 hours on a single charge, with the case providing an additional 16.
The earbuds charge via the case, which in turn can use the included Lightning to USB-C cable or wireless charging via the Qi or MagSafe standard.
Apple claims a quick five-minute charge will provide users with an hour of listening time or talk time.
The third-generation AirPods are compatible with a wide variety of Apple devices, which are listed below. Keep in mind to use these, you will need to have the devices on the latest version of their respective operating systems.
Note: It is also compatible with the 7th generation iPod Touch.

AirPods 3 could arrive with a water-resistance charging case
Apple’s latest earbuds were announced last Monday during the company’s Unleashed event that also revealed the new, larger, and more potent MacBook Pro laptops. The new AirPods 3 arrived with a new design and several upgrades that include Spatial Audio, IPX4 water resistance, and more. However, it seems that Cupertino forgot to mention one extra upgrade that comes with the new charging case of its latest AirPods, as it seems that the earbuds’ water resistance may also apply to their carrying case.
The new AirPods 3 feature tons of great upgrades from the regular AirPods models that are still available for purchase on Amazon, B&H, and other online stores. These wireless earphones sell for $175, which may be a tough sell, considering that the regular AirPods with a wireless charging case sell for just $160, and the more potent AirPods Pro can be purchased for $197, or less, depending on where you get them from, and the available deals.
Buying a new pair of AirPods 3 for $175 doesn’t seem to be such a compelling deal, even more so after you realize that they don’t feature active noise canceling like the Pro models that can be yours for $22 more. However, this may sound more interesting when you consider that the new AirPods feature a MagSafe charging case that also features the same IPX4 water resistance as the earbuds it carries. This would make this the first charging case to include this feature, as the case of the AirPods Pro isn’t water or sweat resistant.
In other words, your new AirPods 3 and their charging case will be able to withstand splashes of water, but they won’t hold up to water jets or water immersion. These new earbuds also feature a new feature that comes as a skin-detect sensor that allows it to detect when they’re being worn or not, while the more expensive AirPods Pro uses dual optical sensors to detect if they’re in the user’s ears.
Apple slashes AirPods 2 price after AirPods 3 announcement
Apple (finally) took wraps off the AirPods 3 yesterday. The new wireless earbuds from Apple now come with a new design, Spatial Audio, Adaptive EQ, Dolby Atmos Audio, and much more. Learn more about AirPods 3, its compatible devices, feature, and more here. Following its announcement, Apple has said that it will continue to sell AirPods 2, but at a lower price. AirPods 2 are now available for purchase at $129, $50 less than AirPods 3.
The new AirPods 3 come with more features and a new design, but if you want AirPods for light usage, you can go ahead and buy AirPods 2, and now at a low price. With the introduction of AirPods 3, updated Apple AirPods lineup prices are as follows:
- AirPods 2 – $129
- AirPods 3 – $179
- AirPods Pro – $249
- AirPods Max – $549
Along with the introduction of AirPods 3, Apple has also updated its website to give AirPods a separate new section. The Apple.com website now has a separate TV & Home tab and a separate AirPods tab. announced that the new AirPods support MagSafe charging. If you’re willing to buy new wireless earbuds from Apple and are confused between them, you can then head over to Apple’s official AirPods comparison page and choose the best AirPods for your usage.
