Does the Galaxy Watch 4 have a built-in camera?

Published

on

Samsung has unveiled its brand new Galaxy smartwatch lineup at the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event. The new Galaxy Watch 4 series is available in two different models, one aimed at those who like a minimalistic look, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is for those who prefer a traditional wristwatch look. We’ll take a closer look at the hardware specifications and see if the new watches have a built-in camera.

Samsung also unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable flagships at the event. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the most affordable foldable Samsung device yet, starting at $999. We have a list of the best Z Flip 3 cases and collected some of the best Galaxy Z Flip 3 deals if you haven’t ordered it yet.

There will be four models available — a 40mm and 44mm Watch 4, and a 42mm and 46mm Watch 4 Classic. The new smartwatches come with Samsung’s own 5nm chipset with 1.5GB of memory and 16GB of storage. The processor that powers the watches provides 20% faster CPU, 50% more memory, and 10x better GPU performance.

The new watch series also come with Samsung’s BioActive Sensor that combines three sensors into one compact unit, offering more features in a compact design. The new sensor can track your optical heart rate, electrical heart rate, and bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor (PPG, ECG, BIA). Availability of these new features and sensors will depend on your region, so we recommend you check it before purchase.

The new generation of smartwatches have a lot of new and exciting hardware improvements and upgrades over their predecessors. However, none of the Galaxy Watch 4 watches have a built-in camera. Samsung had cameras in some of its first smartwatches, but it quickly gave up on the idea as it wasn’t beneficial, and people didn’t seem to want to use it to take photos.

The new Galaxy Watch 4 series is available now, and you can get your hands on the Galaxy Watch 4 starting at $249.99, or the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic at $349.99. In case you want to customize your device, we already have a collection of the best bands for your new Galaxy Watch 4, and have also compared it with the Apple Watch Series 6.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 offers the latest features from Samsung, and it comes with new sensors, activity, and health tracking features. It’s also the first smartwatch to run the latest unified Wear OS system. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic offers the same features as the standard Galaxy Watch 4, but comes in a more traditional design and the beloved rotating bezel.

One UI 4.0 could roll out to Galaxy S21 Series as soon as November or December

Published

on

The third One UI 4.0 beta was released to the Galaxy S21 Series just a week ago in South Korea. Samsung is no longer accepting any more beta testers into the program, which is a good sign, indicating that the tests went successfully and that the company is now fixing the last remaining bugs before it can prepare for the final and public release.

For those unaware, One UI 4.0 Beta 3 was based on the latest official Android 12 build, which meant that it came with the final version of firmware and APIs that the developers can take advantage of. According to a Samsung Community Manager, Samsung is no longer accepting Beta participants, and they “hope to see you in the full version” (via SamMobile), indicating that the company is now finalizing the software and preparing to roll it out potentially in November.

Initially, only the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series of devices were eligible for the program, but there are some signs that it may soon re-open for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable flagship devices in South Korea (via SamMobile). Other and older Galaxy S and Note series may follow shortly after, although we haven’t heard anything about those devices.

If the official One UI 4.0 does roll-out in November, it will most certainly only be available in South Korea at the beginning, and it will likely take weeks until it’ll start rolling out to other regions around the world. These updates usually take weeks and months to reach all devices, although Samsung has been quickly updating its latest flagship devices in recent years.

Earlier today, we mentioned that Samsung is also working on skinning and redesigning some of its Windows applications under the name One UI Book 4 that aims to bring over some changes to the Samsung Galaxy Notes, Gallery, and other applications.

Samsung’s Tizen OS will soon run on many more TVs from other brands

Published

on

Samsung has been using its Tizen OS on its smart TVs and other smart devices for many years, and the operating system has received several upgrades and improvements over the years. At the Samsung Developer Conference yesterday (SDC), the company announced that it’s working with Google to bring better video calling and Samsung Health features to its smart TVs with built-in cameras and other sensors.

Samsung wants to improve its Tizen operating system by offering even more features, some of which focus on better HDR calibration, health, gaming, and reduced latency. During the SDC announcement, Samsung also announced Tizen for Business, which is a service aimed to support interactive e-boards in schools and kiosks, and even smaller displays at restaurants, undergrounds, and airports. Samsung also announced the Tizen TV Platform License that’ll allow other TV manufacturers to use the Tizen OS on their smart TVs.

Samsung said the following regarding the new Tizen TV Platform License:

“Manufacturers who want to introduce a premium TV platform like Tizen can do so quickly with minimal cost, as well as utilize the Tizen brand to promote their products at major external events. This enables them to use the Tizen TV presence to promote their products in the Smart TV market, and ultimately, help more consumers enjoy Tizen.”

It’s not surprising to see Samsung wanting to license out its TV platform, after all, there is extra money that could be made, which could also help Samsung invest more into its platform and make further improvements and enhancements to it. The company could also bundle in certain applications and highlight certain features for specific TV models. It’s not yet clear how the licensing will work and what the requirements will be, but we expect to hear more in the near future as we get closer to seeing Tizen OS on more smart TVs.
